Astoria Visual Arts Artist-in-Residence Program
Six-month rent-free studio residency for local artists in Clatsop or Pacific Counties. January-June 2026. All media welcome.
Astoria Visual Arts (AVA) is seeking local artists to apply for their next artist-in-residence position. This prestigious program offers one selected artist a rent-free studio space at the Astoria Studio Collective, located at 372 10th Street in Astoria, for a six-month residency period from January 1 through June 30, 2026.
The artist-in-residence program is specifically designed to encourage the creative, intellectual, and professional growth of artists working in the local community. Artists working in any media are welcome and encouraged to apply, including visual artists of all disciplines.
Residency recipients are selected by a panel of working artists and arts patrons based on merit and need. This competitive selection process ensures that the award goes to artists who will benefit most from the opportunity and demonstrate strong artistic practice and potential for growth.
Since its establishment in 2015, AVA's artist-in-residence program has successfully supported 40 artists in advancing their careers and creative practice. Previous applicants are strongly encouraged to reapply, particularly if their work has evolved or their circumstances have changed.
The program is supported by AVA Members, individual contributions from supporters, and community partnerships. This collaborative funding model reflects the community's commitment to fostering local artistic talent and cultural development.
