Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 Performance Art Call

BAB 2026 invites performance artists to create works for public spaces in central Bangkok under the theme 'Angels and Mara.'

The Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 (BAB 2026) is now accepting submissions from performance artists for the fifth edition of Asia's leading contemporary art festival. This prestigious event, organized by ThaiBev in partnership with public and private-sector organizations, aims to position Bangkok as a global cultural stage and strengthen the city's role as a creative hub for contemporary art in Asia.

The 2026 edition centers on the curatorial concept 'Angels and Mara' and will showcase selected artworks across prominent locations throughout central Bangkok's public spaces, museums, temples, and cultural landmarks. The festival runs from October 29, 2026 to February 28, 2027.

The open call welcomes diverse forms of performance art, including live or durational performance works, sound art performances, dance and choreography, experimental theatre and spoken word, and cross-disciplinary site-specific live works. Selected artists will play a significant role in animating public spaces and fostering cross-cultural dialogue while opening new creative possibilities in Bangkok's urban landscape.

The previous edition (BAB 2024) under the theme 'Nurture Gaia' drew over 1.2 million visitors and featured 303 artworks by 76 artists and collectives across 11 venues. This demonstrates the festival's significant reach and impact on Bangkok's cultural scene.

Applications are being accepted from now through December 14, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for performance artists to gain international exposure and contribute to one of the most widely attended art festivals in Asia.
