Benches on the Avenue 2026 Public Art Project

Submit bench designs celebrating America's 250th birthday for Tinley Park's public art program. Deadline extended to Dec. 30, 2025.

The Village of Tinley Park is seeking artists to participate in the 2026 Benches on the Avenue public art project, a community-based initiative that transforms public spaces through creative bench designs. This year's theme is "Party in the USA," celebrating America's 250th birthday.

The Village is looking for unique, imaginative, and three-dimensional designs that will take visitors on an adventure celebrating the United States. All designs should be kid- and family-friendly, vibrant, colorful, and include some degree of three-dimensional artistic elements. The benches will serve as interactive public art installations that combine functionality with creativity.

This is an inclusive opportunity open to anyone with artistic creativity and imagination. There are no apparent restrictions on artist experience level or background. Selected designs will be fabricated and installed throughout Tinley Park's public spaces, providing artists with an excellent platform to showcase their work to the community.

The submission process is straightforward. Artists must complete the 2026 Benches on the Avenue Call to Artists form and submit it along with their design concepts. To ensure diversity and avoid duplication, prospective artists are required to submit two different designs. The Village will review all submissions and notify selected artists by January 7, 2026, allowing adequate time for fabrication and installation before the 2026 program launch.
