Biennale College Danza 2026 - Dancers & Choreographers

International residency program for young dancers (18-28) and choreographers (under 30). Three-month intensive in Venice with world-renowned masters.

Biennale College Danza 2026 is now accepting applications for an intensive three-month residency program in Venice from May 13 to August 1, 2026. This prestigious opportunity will select 16 dancers between 18-28 years old and 2 choreographers under 30 years old under the direction of Sir Wayne McGregor, who is in his sixth year as Director.

Participants will engage in a comprehensive program including an introductory residency focused on Physical Thinking through choreographic, performative, and artificial intelligence-based practices. The residency emphasizes collaborative skills development, production techniques, and choreographic composition.

Selected artists will work with internationally influential choreographers Molissa Fenley and Maxine Doyle on two commissioned new creations that will premiere at the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance (July 17 - August 1, 2026). Additionally, participants will attend a performance workshop for research and development led by Wayne McGregor, culminating in a site-specific event.

The two selected choreographers will create two original short pieces for premiere at the festival. Throughout the program, all participants are invited to attend all festival performances and participate in lectures and mini-residencies with invited artists, creating a dynamic environment for critical and creative exchange.

This opportunity follows previous successful cohorts that worked with acclaimed choreographers including Saburo Teshigawara, Xie Xin, Cristina Caprioli, and Sir Wayne McGregor.
