Brandon University Convocation 2026 Artwork Commission

Create original artwork reflecting student experience at Brandon University. $1,000 commission. Prints distributed to all 2026 graduates.

Brandon University is seeking an artist to create the official Convocation 2026 artwork, continuing an annual tradition that began in 2020. The selected artwork will be reproduced as an approximately 8"x10" print and included in each graduate's parchment package as a treasured memento of their time at Brandon University.

The artwork should reflect the overall student experience of the academic year at Brandon University, capturing the faces, spaces, and moments that define the BU campus. Past contributing artists have included established and emerging creators such as Weiming Zhao, Jessie Jannuska, Curt Shoultz, and Katy Martin, whose bobcat portrait overlaid on abstract campus representation won last year's commission.

The selected artist will receive a $1,000 commission to develop the final piece. The prints will be frame-worthy keepsakes suitable for display at home, work, or in public spaces, with "Class of 2026" or similar text included.

Special consideration will be given to artists with connections to Brandon University or regions where BU operates, as well as to artists identifying with underrepresented or marginalized groups. The university welcomes submissions from both established and emerging artists of all backgrounds.

The final artwork will be presented to graduates during the spring Convocation ceremony, making it a highlight of the annual graduation celebration.
