Call for Artists: Pinnacle Peak Safety Facility

Nationwide call for public art installation at Peoria's Pinnacle Peak Safety Facility. $225,000 commission for selected artist or team.

Peoria has launched a nationwide call for artists to create a signature public art installation at the Pinnacle Peak Safety Facility, located at 23100 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway. The artwork will anchor the plaza outside Peoria Police's North Precinct, the Real Time Crime Center, and Peoria Fire-Medical Station 195.

The chosen artist or artist team will be awarded a $225,000 commission covering design, fabrication, installation, and other related costs. The piece will be highly visible to drivers and pedestrians along Lake Pleasant Parkway during the day and illuminated at night.

The City's Arts & Culture Commission seeks artwork that:
• Enhances the site's architecture and civic identity
• Engages the community and invites reflection
• Incorporates light or solar-powered elements
• Withstands desert conditions and emphasizes sustainability and durability
• Evokes pride, honor, and joy, reflecting Peoria's spirit
• While not required, interpretations tied to public safety or civic service are welcome

Applicants must demonstrate experience completing at least one large-scale public art project valued at $100,000 or more, preferably in an outdoor setting. A public art advisory panel of city staff, arts professionals, and community representatives will review submissions and recommend finalists. The Peoria Arts & Culture Commission will make a final selection for city approval.
