Call for Artists: Public Art Proposals

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Art Commission seeks artists for site-specific public art projects. Temporary and semi-permanent works encouraged.

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Art Commission is actively seeking talented artists to submit proposals for public art projects throughout the city of Winston-Salem. This is an excellent opportunity for artists working across multiple disciplines and mediums to contribute to the community's cultural landscape.

Proposed projects must be site-specific and can encompass a wide variety of artistic approaches, including curatorial, performative, community-based, sound-based, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional works. The commission particularly encourages experimentation and innovative artistic practices.

Preference will be given to temporary or semi-permanent artworks that are not intended to last more than five years. This approach allows for dynamic and evolving public art experiences within the community.

Projects proposed on City property are highly encouraged, with particular emphasis on installations within greenways, parks, and community spaces. These public venues offer excellent opportunities to reach diverse audiences and activate shared community areas.

The application process requires artists to follow specific guidelines and submit detailed project proposals. Artists should carefully review all project details and submission requirements through the official application portal. The contact person for this opportunity is Teresa Cervantes, who can provide additional information and clarification about the application process.
