Call for Artists - Tampa International Airport
TPA seeks artists for Airside D and expanded airport areas. Applications launching early 2026.
Tampa International Airport (TPA) is launching a call for artists to create public art installations for the upcoming Airside D expansion and other expanded areas of the airport. This is an exciting opportunity for artists to contribute to one of Florida's most visited public spaces and have their work experienced by millions of travelers annually.
TPA has established a renowned public art program that showcases diverse artistic visions throughout the airport campus. Recent installations include Matthew Mazzotta's iconic flamingo sculpture "Home," Aaron T. Stephan's "Paths Rising" featuring over 600 ladders, Nick Cave's monumental "Palimpsest" hanging sculpture, and Christopher Still's dynamic aluminum wing installation "q." The airport continues to expand its collection with new commissions.
Artists selected for this opportunity will have their work permanently displayed in high-traffic areas of the airport, gaining exposure to millions of visitors from around the world. The Airside D project represents a significant expansion of the airport's public art program, offering multiple opportunities for artists working in various mediums.
The airport plans to launch the official call for artists in early 2026. Interested artists are encouraged to join the artist mailing list to receive notifications when applications open and to learn more about the selection process and requirements.
This is a prestigious opportunity to contribute to a major public institution and have your artwork appreciated by a diverse, international audience. Artists should be prepared to submit portfolios, artist statements, and project proposals demonstrating their ability to create site-specific installations suitable for a major transportation hub.
