Call to Makers, Hackers, Designers & Artists

Join a movement cultivating positive futurism through creative expressions that imagine and manifest better futures for our world.

This is a call to action for makers, hackers, designers, engineers, and artists to participate in an emerging 'Positive Futurism' movement. Rather than focusing solely on climate collapse and extinction, this initiative seeks to cultivate longing and imagination for a better future through creative means.

The movement encompasses diverse artistic and creative practices including immersive experiences, street art, interactive installations, music, storytelling, and digital art. Examples include 'Field Recordings from the Future' (immersive light projection and music shows), fortune-telling machines that imagine positive 2030 scenarios, street murals that visualize sustainable futures, and pop-up events that create 'utopian moments' in public spaces.

This is part of a broader recognition that climate activists and scientists alone cannot cultivate the necessary longing for change—writers, poets, street artists, novelists, screenwriters, designers, and creators of immersive experiences are essential partners. The movement draws inspiration from Black Quantum Futurism, Afrofuturism, Muslim Futures, and other visions of liberation and possibility.

Artists and creators are encouraged to develop projects that help people reconnect with the future, fall in love with its possibilities, and experience glimpses of what a better world could look like. This could include interactive devices, public art installations, immersive events, performance art, digital experiences, or any creative expression that brings positive futures into the present moment and inspires collective action toward sustainable, equitable, and flourishing communities.
