Canada Pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale

Call for exhibition proposals for Canada's official representation at the 20th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, Italy.

The Canada Council for the Arts invites exhibition proposals for Canada's official representation at the 20th International Architecture Exhibition at the Canada Pavilion in the Giardini della Biennale in Venice. The Venice Architecture Biennale is a prestigious international event attracting 300,000 visitors annually, including architects, artists, designers, critics, politicians, students, and cultural leaders from around the world.

The Canada Council seeks proposals with bold ideas that inspire, challenge, and respond to current realities through the lens of contemporary Canadian architecture. The call is open to cross-disciplinary teams from incorporated Canadian organizations, institutions, or registered businesses. Teams must include architects and curators to lead and manage the project, and may include contributors such as artists, writers, and designers.

The selected team will be responsible for all aspects of the exhibition, from conception and design to production, and will work closely with the Canada Council throughout development and delivery. The application process has two stages: Stage I involves submitting proposals through a call for expression of interest, with shortlisted candidates from Stage I invited to fully develop their projects and participate in interviews in Stage II. The selection committee includes Betsy Williamson, Sergio Morales, Naomi Potter, and David Fortin. The selected team and project will be announced in May 2026.
