Carolina Beach MuralFest 2026 - Artist Applications

Second annual MuralFest in Carolina Beach seeks 32 North Carolina artists to create 4x4 foot painted canvases for May event.

Carolina Beach is hosting the second annual MuralFest on May 16-17, 2026, with the theme "Livin' Carolina Beach." This vibrant community art event invites North Carolina artists to participate in creating original artwork for public display.

Event Details:
The festival will feature 36 original, 4-by-4-foot painted canvases displayed along Carolina Beach Lake. Selected artists will paint one side of a half-inch plywood panel during the festival weekend. The artworks will remain on display around the lake through September, after which they will be auctioned off with 50% of final proceeds going directly to the artist.

Artist Participation:
The event welcomes 32 North Carolina artists to participate. Artists can also engage the community by setting up vendor booths to paint live, interact with the public, and display additional artwork for sale. Local school children will also participate in open-air art experiences, painting live on-site as spectators watch.

Event Activities:
In addition to the mural creation, MuralFest will feature food trucks, live music, and community celebration. This is an excellent opportunity for artists to gain exposure, sell work, and connect with the community.

Organization:
The Carolina Beach Mural Project, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting the event. The organization has overseen 20 murals installed across the island and is dedicated to celebrating the island's rich history and culture through public art.

Compensation:
Artists receive 50% of auction proceeds from their work sold after the September display period.
