CASP Live/Work Studio Residency in Lubbock

Charles Adams Studio Project offers affordable live/work studio spaces in downtown Lubbock for artists committed to community engagement.

The Charles Adams Studio Project (CASP) in Lubbock is accepting applications for its Live/Work Studio artist residency program. This opportunity provides affordable, purpose-built spaces for artists seeking to engage with the local community through open studios and public events.

Each live/work unit features 500 square feet of living space with an adjacent 1,000-square-foot artist studio. Studios are rented on yearly leases up to two years at $700 per month—half of current market rate. This affordable pricing allows artists a manageable cost of living and working while exploring their professional career development.

The program emphasizes community engagement, encouraging resident artists to build audiences, attract collectors, and share skills through workshops and demonstrations. During monthly First Friday Art Trail events, CASP studios regularly attract 4,000 to 6,000 visitors.

Residents gain access to a built-in artist community with eight additional publicly accessible makerspace studios on the property, including printmaking and metalworking facilities. Teaching opportunities are available within CASP studios, providing potential supplementary income. The organization plans to double the number of live/work studios and add a new 2,000-square-foot creative education space.

The application process requires professional and character references, stated goals for the residency, commitment to weekly open studio hours, and community engagement plans. Studio availability begins May 1, 2026.
