University of Niagara Falls seeks artist to create ceremonial object for inaugural convocation ceremony next spring.

University of Niagara Falls Canada is inviting professional artists and designers to submit design concepts for a ceremonial object to be used during its convocation ceremonies, beginning with the institution's inaugural ceremony in spring 2026. This is an opportunity to help establish a meaningful tradition for the new university.

The selected artist will create a piece that reflects the university's core values, including its commitment to innovation and connection to the community. The chosen design will be used annually as part of convocation ceremonies, making this a significant contribution to the university's traditions.

Specific requirements for the ceremonial object include: a standalone design that reflects the university's values and regional character, a timeless aesthetic, maximum dimensions of 61 cm in height and 30.5 cm in width, and the piece must be light enough to carry comfortably during a procession.

Artists working in various disciplines are encouraged to apply, and the selected artist will collaborate with the university to refine the design and produce a durable, meaningful final object. This is a meaningful opportunity for artists to contribute to the establishment of a new institution's traditions while gaining recognition and creating a lasting legacy.
