Christmas in the Village - Community Art Exhibition
Coventry's 22nd annual Christmas celebration features local artists, crafters, and performers showcasing holiday art and performances.
Coventry's Christmas in the Village is an annual community celebration now in its 22nd year, originally initiated in 2004 by the Coventry Village Improvement Society. The event brings together community members, local businesses, and artists to celebrate the holiday season. The 2025 event takes place on Sunday, December 7 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Coventry Community Center and Main Street area.
The celebration features multiple art and performance opportunities for local artists:
1. Crafter Exhibition at the Coventry Community Center - Local crafters can display and sell their work alongside the Christmas Tree Festival.
2. Christmas Tree Festival - A holiday decor sale where trees decorated and donated by local businesses, organizations, and individuals are displayed and drawings are held for participants.
3. Artists' Open Studio - Part of the multi-day Eastern Connecticut event, with two Main Street studios (Timberman Studio and Maple Brook Studio) open to the public, plus four additional Coventry studios participating.
4. Holiday Art and Literary Show - Coordinated by the Coventry Arts Guild, featuring an exhibition of holiday-themed art and literary works.
5. Live Musical Performances - Local artists perform throughout the afternoon, including Song-A-Day Music Center and The Can-Dance Studio.
6. High School Performances - Coventry High School's Chorus and Band program performs holiday songs during the tree lighting ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
The event emphasizes community participation and showcasing local talent. Organizers encourage artists and craftspeople to contribute decorated trees, participate in open studio hours, and submit work for the holiday art exhibition.
