City of Saint John Art Bank Call for Artists
Saint John Community Arts Board seeks emerging and professional artists to expand its public art collection. Submissions open for 2025.
The Saint John Community Arts Board is now accepting submissions for the 2025 City of Saint John Art Bank program. This opportunity is open to individual emerging or professional artists, groups, and collaborations who are residents of the City of Saint John.
The City of Saint John maintains a significant collection of visual art and heritage pieces that have been purchased or donated over time. These works are displayed throughout the city in prominent locations including City Hall, the Saint John Arts Centre, Market Square, and the Saint John Free Public Library.
The Art Bank program provides an excellent opportunity for the City to expand and enhance its existing collection. The program welcomes proposals for various artistic mediums including paintings, sculptures, limited edition prints, photographs, drawings, fine craft, mixed media, and other related mediums.
Priority will be given to acquiring artworks by artists who are not currently represented in the City's Art Bank collection. The City's collection already features work by celebrated Saint John artists including Miller Brittain, Fred Ross, Herzl Kashetsky, and many others.
The Saint John Community Arts Board, which reports to Common Council, is responsible for formulating and recommending policy regarding investment in the arts. The board provides advisory support to the arts and culture sector and encourages community awareness and appreciation of artistic and cultural activities throughout Saint John.
This is a meaningful opportunity for artists to have their work become part of Saint John's public art legacy and be seen by residents and visitors across multiple city locations.
