Creative Change Makers: Teen Arts Initiative
Annual open call for NJ student artists (Grades 9-12) to submit work exploring sustainable arts and environmental activism.
Teen Arts New Jersey has launched Creative Change Makers, an innovative annual program that uses art as a vehicle to promote activism and positive community change. This is an open call for New Jersey-based student artists in grades 9-12 working in visual, literary, and performing arts. The inaugural theme is "Sustainable Arts: Creating with Consciousness," inviting student artists to explore environmental issues and their impact on animal ecosystems, human health, communities, and futures. Artists are encouraged to highlight the power of creativity in promoting sustainability and reimagining our relationship with the planet. Students may submit as individual artists, collaborative groups (2-4 artists), or community arts advocates (5-9 artists). The program will culminate in a spring 2026 group art exhibition featuring visual artwork, performing pieces, spoken word, and project documentation. An opening reception will be held where performing artists showcase their work live alongside visual exhibits. Individual student artists demonstrating exceptional skill in literary, visual, or performing arts can receive a $500 honorarium. Collaborative groups and community arts advocates can earn a $1,000 stipend directed to their school arts department or art-related club. Award winners will be announced at the opening reception and invited to participate in a featured panel discussion at the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival in June 2026 to share their work and creative processes. All exhibitions and events are free and open to the public.
