Cultural Umbrella Committee Advocate Position

Florida Keys Council of the Arts seeks local artists and advocates for TDC District 4 committee role promoting regional arts and culture.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts (FKCA) is accepting letters of interest from local artists, writers, and arts advocates to fill an open position on the Cultural Umbrella Committee of the Tourist Development Council (TDC). This five-member committee works directly with the TDC on advertising campaigns to promote the arts and culture scenes throughout the Florida Keys. Committee members also make recommendations to the regional tourism group on funding for promotions of local cultural events. The available seat is for TDC District 4, which covers the geographic area between Long Key Bridge and Mile Marker 90.939. All applicants must be residents of this designated area. The selected candidate will serve a full term through September 30, 2028. The current committee member recently stepped down due to personal reasons. FKCA is specifically seeking applicants who have demonstrated significant support and advocacy for art and culture, or who work as artists in visual, performing, literary, or historic disciplines. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a clear understanding of the prime importance of art and culture to both the local economy and the quality of life of Monroe County citizens and visitors. It's important to note that committee members cannot receive income or compensation from any organizations that receive funding through this panel. This position offers an excellent opportunity for passionate arts advocates to influence tourism marketing strategies and cultural funding decisions in the Florida Keys region.
