Cumberland Valley Photographers 2026 Exhibition

Juried photography exhibition exploring history, identity, place, and civic life for America's 250th anniversary.

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts invites regional photographers to participate in the Cumberland Valley Photographers 2026 Exhibition, a juried photography exhibition showcasing contemporary perspectives on themes central to understanding America's evolving story. This exhibition is inspired by the nation's approach to its 250th anniversary in 2026 and draws from four interconnected themes: Unfinished Revolutions, Power of Place, Tell Everyone's Story, and American Experiment Together. These themes encourage photographers to engage deeply with the complexities of American life, celebrating resilience while prompting thoughtful dialogue about shared histories and futures. Photographers working in all styles and photographic processes are encouraged to submit work responding to one or more of the guiding themes. Artists may respond to themes literally or metaphorically, on personal or collective levels, through documentary photography or more conceptual work, using figuration or abstraction. The exhibition seeks visually compelling, conceptually thoughtful work reflective of diverse voices and perspectives from the Cumberland Valley region. Selected works will be exhibited at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, offering audiences an opportunity to experience contemporary photography that responds to themes shaping conversations around America's 250th anniversary and the role of art in understanding shared history.
