D Line Subway Extension Artist Meet & Greet

Meet three of 27 commissioned artists creating site-specific artworks for new D Line stations at Craft Contemporary on November 20.

Metro Art is hosting a special public event to celebrate the artists commissioned for the Purple (D Line) Extension Project. This free event features three of the 27 artists creating innovative, site-specific artworks integrated into the structures of seven new stations across the D Line Subway Extension.

The event brings together artists Fran Siegel, Karl Haendel, and Soo Kim for an in-depth conversation with Senior Curator Frida Cano Dominguez. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about each artist's unique practice, their creative vision, and how they approached designing artworks for three key stations: Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, and Wilshire/La Cienega.

The program includes a reception with refreshments and a panel discussion, providing an interactive setting for art enthusiasts, transit riders, and community members to engage with the artists directly. This is an excellent networking opportunity for those interested in public art, transit design, and Metro Art's initiatives.

Metro Art transforms the transit experience by integrating one of the nation's largest collections of public art into the Los Angeles County metro system. Through site-specific installations, photography, onboard posters, art tours, and live performances, Metro Art enhances customer experience and connects communities throughout LA County.

The event has reached official capacity but attendees can join the waitlist for potential openings.
