Day of the Dead Cemetery Murals - Puerto Vallarta
Muralists invited to create Day of the Dead-themed works in Puerto Vallarta's municipal cemeteries with guided color palettes.
Puerto Vallarta's Institute of Culture is inviting muralists to transform the city's three municipal cemeteries into open-air galleries for Day of the Dead celebrations. This unique opportunity, titled 'Muralists in the Framework of Day of the Dead,' seeks artists and collectives to create murals that highlight local identity and history through Day of the Dead imagery and symbolism. Artists are encouraged to reinterpret local characters, traditions, and historic events in their proposals. To ensure visual cohesion, organizers have suggested three specific color palettes: 'Vibrant Marigold,' 'Nocturnal Magic,' and 'Vallarta Sunset.' The project is supported by Mayor Luis Munguía González's administration and aims to revitalize public spaces while showcasing Puerto Vallarta's artistic talent. Selected artists will have their works unveiled during guided tours on November 1-2, coinciding with the city's Day of the Dead festivities. This initiative offers artists a unique opportunity to contribute to cultural celebration while creating meaningful public art in significant community spaces.
