DCU/FSAS Visual Artists in Residence 2026/27
Two year-long residencies for visual artists at Dublin City University's All Hallows campus, offering dedicated studios and access to academic communities.
Dublin City University (DCU), in partnership with Fire Station Artists' Studios (FSAS), is pleased to announce applications for the 2026/27 Visual Artists in Residence programme. This established collaboration, running since 2019, offers two visual artists a unique year-long opportunity to embed their practice within DCU's rich academic and research environment on the All Hallows campus in Drumcondra.
The residency is designed for visual artists with research-based or process-led practices who thrive on sustained development, reflection, and engagement with diverse academic communities. Seven artists have successfully completed this programme over the past six years, contributing meaningfully to the university's cultural vibrancy.
Selected artists will receive dedicated studio spaces (3m x 5m) within the historic Drumcondra House, ideal for research, writing, digital work, or small-scale making. Note that studios are not suitable for wet or heavy production work.
Residency support includes: access to academic and research communities across DCU's campus, use of DCU Library and research facilities, guidance from the DCU Cultural Arts Officer, curatorial visits from FSAS staff, access to FSAS facilities at highly subsidized rates, and opportunities to attend public lectures, cultural events, and talks at DCU.
This opportunity reflects DCU's commitment to integrating arts and culture, fostering creative inquiry, experimentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The programme is particularly suited to artists whose work benefits from sustained engagement with university communities and academic contexts.
