Design Sixth Fox Sculpture for Foxboro
Foxboro cultural council seeks artist submissions to design a sixth fox sculpture for the Fox-in-the-Boro public art project.
The Town of Foxboro is calling for artist submissions to design and create the sixth fox sculpture as part of the Fox-in-the-Boro public art initiative. This ongoing public art project has gained significant community support and recognition.
The five existing fox sculptures are 3-foot-tall fiberglass sculptures that weigh 90 pounds each. They were originally painted by five area artists in a contest sponsored by the cultural council about two years ago. The project was initially conceived as an auction to raise money for cultural events, but due to overwhelming community support, the foxes have become permanent installations throughout the town.
The sixth fox sculpture will be unveiled this summer outside the Foxboro Community Center as part of the Founders Day celebration in June. Rather than auctioning off the new sculpture, the cultural council has decided to keep all foxes in place to celebrate the town's identity and promote local pride. The council plans to use fundraising efforts to support both the creation of the sixth fox and maintenance of the existing five sculptures.
The cultural council is actively seeking sponsors and donations to support this public art project. This is an excellent opportunity for local artists to contribute to their community while creating meaningful public artwork. The fox sculptures have proven to be popular attractions that bring people together and showcase Foxboro's commitment to art and culture. The project helps strengthen local pride and identity while providing excellent visibility for participating artists.
