Detroit Salon Global Contemporary Art Platform

Global art platform launching in Paris 2025, with artist call opening January 2026 and citywide Detroit event in 2028

Detroit Salon is a new global contemporary art platform created by Detroit-based Salonnière and backed by the State of Michigan, Visit Detroit, and CultureSource. The initiative aims to connect Detroit artists to international audiences while building local infrastructure. The platform will debut internationally in Paris in fall 2025, open a community-driven artist call in January 2026, and stage a full citywide edition in Detroit in 2028. The headquarters will be the Detroit Salon Art House in Paradise Valley, featuring year-round exhibitions, salons, and artist development programs. After 2028, the fair is intended to recur every two years. Partnerships include Art Basel and 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, providing Detroit artists access to audiences in Paris, Basel, and London. The initiative emphasizes Detroit control over creative decisions and storytelling, with exhibitions curated by Detroit curators and selection processes involving Michigan cultural workers. Two Paris shows will be assembled through nominations from Michigan arts leaders and juried review, while a third will be curated by the organizing team. The platform serves both as a global exhibitions opportunity and Detroit-rooted infrastructure development, aiming to elevate neighborhood voices and institutions across the city while building networks that sustain artistic careers.
