Detroit Salon Global Contemporary Art Platform
New global art platform launching community-driven artist call in January 2026, staging citywide art event in Detroit 2028.
Detroit Salon is a new global contemporary art platform created by Detroit-based Salonnière, backed by the State of Michigan, Visit Detroit, and CultureSource. The initiative will debut internationally in Paris in fall 2025, open a community-driven artist call in January 2026, and stage a full citywide edition in Detroit in 2028. The platform aims to connect Detroit artists to global audiences while building local infrastructure that elevates neighborhood voices and institutions. Partnerships include Art Basel and 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, providing Detroit artists access to international networks in Paris, Basel, and London. The headquarters will be the Detroit Salon Art House in Paradise Valley, featuring year-round exhibitions, salons, and artist development programs. After the 2028 launch, the fair is intended to recur every two years. The initiative emphasizes Detroit-controlled creative decisions and storytelling, with exhibitions curated by Detroit curators and selection processes involving Michigan arts leaders. The platform offers artists opportunities to build sustainable careers through international exposure while maintaining strong community roots.
