Dutch-American Cultural Heritage & Artistic Projects

Grants of €500-€10,000 for projects celebrating Dutch-American heritage and the US 250th anniversary in 2026.

Dutch Culture USA has launched a special funding initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of United States independence and celebrate the historic ties between the Netherlands and the U.S. This open call provides grants ranging from €500 to €10,000 for professional artists, cultural practitioners, and heritage organizations to develop publicly accessible projects that showcase the Dutch contribution to American founding and strengthen bilateral cultural relationships.

Projects must highlight Dutch-American heritage through exhibitions, performances, digital collaborations, or multidisciplinary initiatives blending traditional heritage with modern formats such as digital art, fashion, or architecture. All projects must occur in 2026 and be accessible to the general public either physically or digitally.

Eligible applicants include professional artists, makers, creative professionals, cultural organizations, and heritage institutions from both nations. Applicants must demonstrate a verifiable track record of professional cultural activity. Amateur activities, student-led projects, school curriculum initiatives, and non-public projects are ineligible.

Fundable costs include travel, accommodation, artwork transport, production expenses, and PR/marketing related to the Dutch component. Projects must take place within the United States, with special priority given to initiatives outside New York City to foster broader regional exchange. All selected projects must be executed between March 1 and December 31, 2026.

Applications require a comprehensive proposal aligned with the 250th anniversary theme, project budget with specific contribution requests, identification of partners (recommended but not mandatory), and disclosure of other funding sources if the project exceeds €10,000.
