Europe Week 2026 Artistic Production Call
EU Delegation Albania seeks up to 8 artists for Europe Week 2026 performances across theatre, music, dance, visual arts, and interdisciplinary work.
The European Union Delegation to Albania invites artists and cultural actors to submit expressions of interest for artistic productions and performances as part of Europe Week 2026 programme titled "Open Space." Following the success of the 2025 edition, which received 214 applications and engaged 11 selected artists across 33 cultural events, this call continues to recognize art as a vital force in Europe's civic landscape.
The programme seeks to support up to eight artistic performances across multiple disciplines: theatre performances (up to 3 dates), live music performances in classical, contemporary, alternative or mixed genres (up to 3 dates), visual or conceptual art exhibitions (minimum duration of Europe Week), contemporary dance performances (up to 3 dates), and cross-disciplinary art exhibitions or performances (up to 3 dates or full exhibition duration). Collaborative performances involving artists from different disciplines or between emerging and established artists are particularly encouraged.
Selected artists must begin implementation from February 9, 2026, with all performances scheduled during Europe Week (May 9-22, 2026). Geographic distribution across Albania is strongly encouraged, with performances recommended for state-owned theatres, auditoriums, or non-profit cultural spaces. The EU Delegation supports artists in securing proposed venues when necessary.
The call emphasizes art's role in fostering openness to change, imagination, diversity, equality, and Europe. Artists should create works that reflect European values of democracy, inclusion, and freedom, responding to social and cultural challenges while opening spaces for dialogue. All selected events will be branded with Europe Week visual identity, and artists may be requested to provide photographs, sketches, or artwork to support promotional materials. Social media communication must be coordinated with the Europe Week team to ensure consistency.
