Faces of Change: Mural Art Call for Houston Women

Houston nonprofit seeks artists to create a 61x20 ft mural honoring five extraordinary local women. Application deadline: January 2, 2026.

The Women's Home, a Houston-based nonprofit, has announced an open call for 'Faces of Change: Her Story is Houston's Story,' a mural project celebrating extraordinary women who have shaped Houston's cultural, civic, and social fabric. Greater Houston area artists are eligible to apply to create a 61-foot-by-20-foot mural featuring five women selected through a public nomination process. The honorees will represent diverse generations and fields, including civic leadership, community building, education, healthcare, philanthropy, and the arts. The mural will reflect the strength, resilience, diversity, and enduring legacy of Houston's women, creating a compelling narrative that invites reflection, pride, and deeper community connection. Located at 811 Westheimer Rd. in the Montrose neighborhood, the project begins in April 2026 with completion required within 4 to 6 weeks. The selected artist will receive a commission to create work that celebrates these influential women. This is an excellent opportunity for artists to contribute to public art that honors women's contributions to Houston while gaining visibility and recognition for significant public art work.
