Falmouth Artists Guild 1970s-1980s Members Exhibition

Call for artwork from former Falmouth Artists Guild members and participants from the 1970s-1980s era for a January exhibition.

The Falmouth Art Center is organizing a special exhibition in January celebrating artists, exhibitors, students, teachers, and volunteers who were involved with the Falmouth Artists Guild during the 1970s and 1980s. This retrospective show is part of the Art Center's celebration of its upcoming 60th year of incorporation as a nonprofit organization.

The Falmouth Artists Guild operated from approximately 1963 to 2000 in the old Poor House building (now known as the Edward L. Marks Jr. building at 744 Main Street, dating to 1769). The Guild was an important cultural hub for the local arts community during its tenure. This exhibition offers former members and participants an opportunity to have their work displayed and their contributions to the community recognized.

Artwork receiving will take place in mid-December, so interested artists should submit their work by that deadline. The Falmouth Art Center, currently located at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth, features three galleries showcasing local artists' work and is free and open to the public daily.

This is an excellent opportunity for artists who were part of this important chapter in Falmouth's art history to reconnect with the community and celebrate their artistic legacy. Those who have since moved away or whose loved ones have passed away are also encouraged to participate, allowing the center to include information about them in the exhibition.
