Fish-Themed Art Exhibition for FisherPoets Gathering

Astoria Visual Arts invites artists to submit fish-themed artwork for an open-call exhibition celebrating the annual FisherPoets Gathering in February.

Astoria Visual Arts (AVA) is hosting an open-call exhibition featuring fish-themed artwork in honor of the annual FisherPoets Gathering taking place in February 2026. This marks the sixth year AVA has organized this fish-themed exhibition in conjunction with the FisherPoets Gathering, an annual festival celebrating commercial fishing through poetry, song, prose, art, and film.

Artists are invited to submit between one and four pieces of artwork in any medium and any size. The gallery notes that space is limited, and any works wider than 40 inches must receive advance approval from AVA. Importantly, artwork does not need to be for sale, making this an excellent opportunity for artists to showcase their work regardless of commercial intent.

Artwork delivery is available on two dates: February 10 from 4:00–6:00pm or February 11 from 10:00 am–12:00pm at AVA's location, 959 Commercial Street in Astoria, Oregon. Early delivery can be arranged by request through email communication with the organization.

The exhibition will open on February 14 and remain on view through March 8, 2026, providing a month-long opportunity for the community to engage with the fish-themed artwork. This exhibition aligns with the cultural celebration of commercial fishing in Astoria and provides artists with a platform to showcase their work during this significant community event.
