FONDEC 2026 National Call for Cultural Projects
Paraguay's FONDEC launches 2026 funding call for cultural projects across multiple disciplines with up to 3.5 billion Gs. available.
The National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONDEC) has announced its 2026 national call for proposals, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening cultural and artistic production while expanding access to culture throughout Paraguay. This comprehensive funding programme seeks to provide financial support for cultural projects framed within principles of cultural rights and culture as a cornerstone of development.
Eligible applicants include Paraguayan citizens and foreign residents, both individuals and non-profit organisations, who meet the documentation requirements outlined in the terms and conditions. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online platform on FONDEC's website.
The 2026 call includes seven main funding categories: Performing Arts (theatre, dance, puppetry, circus, opera) with 720 million Gs.; Music (productions, concerts, educational materials) with 720 million Gs.; Visual and Plastic Arts (painting, sculpture, photography, exhibitions) with 360 million Gs.; Literature (narrative, poetry, drama, comics) with 360 million Gs.; Study and Analysis of Cultures and Arts (research, archival preservation) with 400 million Gs.; Other Disciplines (cultural heritage, Indigenous cultures, architecture) with 600 million Gs.; and FONDEC Circulation (national tours across departments) with 290 million Gs.
Each project receives up to 20 million Gs., with specific allocations varying by category. A special call for audiovisual arts will be announced separately, and a second Festivals + Mobility programme call will occur in May. FONDEC Executive Director Rodney Zorrilla emphasizes the initiative's goal to reach all departments, enabling artists and cultural managers from diverse disciplines and regions to access funding and strengthen cultural identity nationally.
