Fox-in-the-Boro Public Art Project - 6th Fox Sculpture

Foxboro Cultural Council seeks artists to design and paint the sixth fox sculpture for the town's public art project.

The Foxboro Cultural Council is officially calling for artist submissions to create the sixth installment of the Fox-in-the-Boro public art project. This public art initiative celebrates Foxboro's identity through five-foot-tall painted fox sculptures that weigh approximately 90 pounds each. The original five foxes were painted by five area artists as part of a contest sponsored by the cultural council about two years ago. Due to overwhelming community support and positive reception, the council has decided to commission one additional fox sculpture to be unveiled in June at Founders Day. The new sculpture will be located outside the Foxboro Community Center. Rather than holding a public auction as originally planned, the council has decided to keep the foxes permanently in town to celebrate the community's identity and pride. The selected artist will be announced on February 20, 2026. The sixth fox will help spread joy on Main Street and strengthen Foxboro's cultural presence. Public art such as this initiative helps build community pride and identity while also potentially increasing foot traffic for local businesses. Ken Carerby, Chair of the Foxboro Cultural Council, emphasized that the council is actively fundraising for the sixth fox through sponsorships and donations, and welcomes community support for art and cultural events in Foxboro.
