G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize 2026
International open call for large-scale sculptural installations. €15,000 award plus construction funding. Permanent display in Crete.
The G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize 2026 invites contemporary visual artists from around the world to submit proposals for innovative, large-scale sculptural installations. This prestigious annual prize, established in 2019, aims to promote and financially support excellence in contemporary art while strengthening leadership and innovation in the visual arts.
The winning artist will receive €15,000 in prize money, with the Foundation covering all construction costs. The selected proposal will be created between January and May 2026, with public presentation in summer 2026, and will become a permanent landmark installation in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. The work will join the Foundation's art collection and contribute to the region's cultural heritage.
The prize welcomes artists working across multiple disciplines including sculpture, installation art, sound installation, mixed media, natural materials, land art, environmental art, ecological art, and practices that integrate art with nature. Proposals should demonstrate originality, site-specificity, creative vision, and long-term sustainability.
The Foundation seeks distinctive works designed for permanent outdoor display that will serve as meaningful landmarks within the designated space. Selected artists should be prepared to realize their vision on-site during the specified timeline and collaborate with Foundation staff throughout the process.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the Foundation's dedicated online form before the deadline. The Foundation encourages artists to carefully review all guidelines and specifications before applying.
