GFI | Premio Luigi Ghirri 2026
Italian artists under 35 invited to submit photography projects exploring 'Voices' theme. Winners receive €4,000 prize and exhibition at Fotografia Europea.
GFI | Premio Luigi Ghirri 2026 is an open call dedicated to emerging Italian photographic talent under 35 years old. The competition invites artists to explore the theme 'Voices,' reflecting on how photographic language can bring multiple perspectives into resonance. Inspired by Irene Solà's novel 'When I Sing, Mountains Dance,' this edition seeks projects that evoke the silent voices of human beings, living and non-living beings, and past and future through imagery.
The competition offers substantial support for selected finalists. All finalists receive €1,500 to cover production, transport, and travel costs for the exhibition preparation and opening in Reggio Emilia. Among the finalists, an international jury will award the main Luigi Ghirri Prize worth €4,000 during Fotografia Europea's opening (April 30 – May 3, 2026).
Selected works will be exhibited at Palazzo dei Musei within the Fotografia Europea program in Reggio Emilia. Additionally, one finalist will be selected for an artist residency in Stockholm through 'Nuove traiettorie – GFI a Stoccolma,' with research and exhibition opportunities at the Italian Cultural Institute. Fotofestiwal Łódź will also invite finalists to participate in Photo-Match 2026, covering travel and accommodation.
The jury comprises international curators and art professionals: Danit Ariel, Ilaria Campioli, Krzysztof Candrowicz, Daniele De Luigi, and Femke Rotteveel.
