Gilbert Heritage District Alley Gallery Art Installation

Six new artworks installed in Gilbert's Heritage District as part of ongoing public art beautification project called Alley Gallery.

The City of Gilbert has completed installation of six new artworks in the Heritage District as part of the Alley Gallery project. This initiative aims to enhance and beautify downtown Gilbert's corridors and pathways with heavy pedestrian traffic through permanent art installations on doors in prominent locations. The installations span from Heritage Marketplace at the north end to HD South museum at the south end of the district. All featured artists are Arizona-based, creating works ranging from 78 to 95 inches in height depending on door size. The six installations include works by Alegre Lopez, Ali Ikerd, Andrea Peterson, Charith Denson, Jon Garza, and Julia Berryman, featuring diverse themes from desert mandalas to chakras to companion planting. The selection process involved a call for artists and review by a committee of area leaders, business owners, and town staff. These new works join Gilbert's Community Canvas public art program, which includes art on electrical boxes, fiberglass benches, murals at businesses, and seasonal installations. All artworks are featured on Gilbert's Public Art Map available online. This appears to be part of an ongoing public art program rather than a current open call for submissions.
