Halo Decatur Mural Project - Artist Call

Decatur Arts Alliance seeks artists to create five large-scale exterior murals for Halo Decatur mixed-use development on West College Avenue.

The Decatur Arts Alliance and Northwood Ravin are seeking qualified artists to install murals on the Halo Decatur mixed-use development located on West College Avenue in Decatur, Georgia. This initiative will commission five large-scale exterior murals that will serve as central visual features of the community.

The mural program is part of Halo Decatur's comprehensive vision to create a vibrant neighborhood destination that seamlessly integrates arts, retail, and residential spaces. Northwood Ravin is developing this mixed-use project, which will feature 370 apartments with retail space on the ground floor. The development is strategically designed to showcase public art as a key community element.

Five mural locations are planned throughout the development, including a signature mural on the Freeman Street parking deck, additional works in the courtyard and breezeways, and a mural on a three-sided sculptural column. These installations will be prominent features visible to residents and visitors throughout the development.

The artist selection process will occur in two phases. First, a selection panel representing Northwood Ravin, the City of Decatur, the Decatur Arts Alliance, and a public art professional will review qualifications and shortlist artists. Finalists will be announced in summer and invited to develop site-specific design concepts. Finalists will also participate in interviews with community engagement incorporated into the selection process, particularly for the largest mural. Mural installations are expected to begin in fall 2026.

The first residential units at Halo Decatur are expected to be completed by April 2026, with the full project completion anticipated by January 2027. Incoming retailers include Condesa Coffee, FS8, and Galore Market.
