Halperin Park East Dock Mural Call for Artists

Oak Cliff community mural opportunity seeking local artists to create art reflecting neighborhood history and cultural importance.

Halperin Park is seeking talented local artists to create a community-based mural for their East Dock offices location. This is an excellent opportunity for individual artists or artist teams with connections to Oak Cliff or the surrounding area to contribute to the community while being fairly compensated for their work.

The mural project should reflect Oak Cliff's rich history, landmarks, and cultural importance while representing multiple neighborhoods, stories, and experiences across both sides of I-35. This is a community-focused initiative designed to celebrate the diverse voices and narratives that make Oak Cliff unique.

Artists will receive compensation of up to $500 for materials and an additional $2,000 for their artistic work, totaling up to $2,500. The installation timeline is expected to run from the proposal deadline through April 3, 2026.

To be eligible, artists must have a meaningful connection to Oak Cliff or the surrounding area. The submission package should include a brief written proposal outlining the mural concept, sketches or visual references to illustrate the design, a proposed budget detailing material costs, and a short artist biography that includes examples of past work and explains the artist's connection to Oak Cliff.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community while showcasing your artistic talents in a visible, high-traffic location. The project emphasizes community engagement and cultural representation, making it ideal for artists passionate about public art and community development.
