Historic Post Office Gallery Exhibition Call

Iowa City invites Iowa-based artists to exhibit work at Historic Post Office Gallery for July-October 2026 sessions.

Iowa City is inviting Iowa-based artists to submit artwork for exhibition at the Historic Post Office Gallery, hosted at the Iowa City Senior Center (ICSC) in collaboration with the City's Public Art Program. This newly formalized gallery program features two distinct exhibition spaces within the ICSC building: the Main Gallery located in the Assembly Room, which serves as the heart of the Downtown ICSC building, and the Top Floor Gallery, a bright corridor connecting the parking garage to program rooms. Exhibitions rotate approximately every two months, providing ongoing opportunities for artists to share their work with a diverse, intergenerational audience. The gallery is currently seeking art to be displayed during two exhibition periods: July through August 2026 and September through October 2026. Artists interested in having their work displayed should complete the online application form and review the Historic Post Office Gallery's website for detailed guidelines. A separate call for artists will be issued later in the year for a special two-month "New & Emerging Artist Mentorship Exhibition," designed specifically for first-time or early-career exhibitors. Artists may choose to apply to one or both calls, providing flexibility for artists at different career stages. This is an excellent opportunity for Iowa-based artists to gain visibility and connect with the diverse community that frequents the Iowa City Senior Center.
