Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition 2026
Submit artwork for the 2026 Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition with opening reception June 6. Entry forms available now.
Artists are invited to submit entries for the Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition 2026, a prestigious showcase featuring work from regional artists. The opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026. This exhibition celebrates the centennial of the historic Brown County Art Gallery and offers artists an opportunity to display their work alongside pieces from Indiana Heritage Arts' permanent collection.
The exhibition takes place during a special centennial year marked by multiple events and celebrations. Artists who participate can engage with the community through various activities, including a special "Painting Selma's Garden" paint-out on June 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site. This event features site admission free during paint-out hours, with artwork sales throughout the day, followed by a 100-year celebration at 5 p.m. including food, wine, a wet paint sale, and self-guided tours. The evening culminates with a performance of the original play "Selma and the Painter" starring Broadway actress Jill Tasker, performed in the Steele studio. Admission is $20 for artists and $40 for visitors.
All submitted artwork must be framed and gallery-wrapped canvas pieces are not accepted. Hanging wires must be secure and not frayed. Barn wood-style frames must be free of sharp splinters for volunteer safety. Entry and membership forms are available at www.indianaheritagearts.org, which includes eligibility requirements, downloadable forms, detailed instructions, and information about this year's judge.
Early drop-off opportunities are available at the Brown County Art Gallery and an alternative drop-off site in Indianapolis at James R. Ross Fine Art. Additional professional development opportunities include a three-day plein-air workshop May 22-24 led by artist Todd Williams, covering two days at T.C. Steele site and studio sessions, with costs of $150 per artist.
