Industrial-Themed Downtown Mural Artist Call

Elizabethton seeks artists to design and paint a 600-sq-ft mural honoring the community's historic manufacturing legacy downtown.

The City of Elizabethton is seeking qualified artists to design and paint a large-scale, industrial-themed mural that will honor the community's historic manufacturing legacy at the gateway to downtown. This project represents a partnership between the City of Elizabethton and Main Street Elizabethton to showcase the region's deep industrial roots.

The mural will be painted on the exterior wall of Tailored Hair Co., located at 405 E. Elk Ave., and will span 600 square feet. The artwork will highlight the area's longstanding craftsmanship, manufacturing heritage, and economic impact that helped shape Carter County throughout its history.

The mural is planned in a sepia-toned, vintage style that will reflect the textures, tones, and imagery reminiscent of early 20th-century Elizabethton. This aesthetic approach will create a cohesive visual narrative celebrating the region's industrial past while enhancing the downtown gateway area.

Artists interested in participating must submit a Request for Qualifications application by the deadline. Additional details and application materials are available on the City of Elizabethton's official website. This is an excellent opportunity for artists to create meaningful public art while contributing to community heritage preservation and downtown revitalization efforts.
