IWD Typism Annual Lettering Challenge 2026
Global lettering challenge celebrating gender equality. Artists of all levels invited to create and share work supporting the #GiveToGain theme.
The IWD Typism Annual Lettering Challenge is a seventh-year collaboration between the Typism Community and International Women's Day, inviting lettering artists worldwide to harness creativity in support of gender equality. The 2026 challenge focuses on the #GiveToGain theme, encouraging artists to use lettering as a visual voice to show solidarity, spark conversation, and support collective action in challenging gender inequality.
This opportunity welcomes both experienced and novice lettering artists to participate by creating original lettering work that supports the Give To Gain focus. Whether your style is bold, quiet, experimental, digital, or analogue, your contribution matters. Artists can work in any lettering medium that resonates with their creative practice.
Participants should post their creations across social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other channels using the hashtags #IWDtypism #IWD2026 #GiveToGain. Impactful entries and their creators will be featured on the International Women's Day and Typism websites, and actively promoted across IWD and Typism social media channels throughout the year.
The Typism Community is an international hub for type and lettering artists founded in 2013 by Dominique Falla. It provides a supportive network for typographers and lettering artists globally. The community hosts an annual Typism Conference and produces curated books of the world's finest black and white lettering. Featured artists gain visibility and recognition within a thriving global creative community united by their shared love of letterforms.
