KOMETAK Artistic Residencies Exchange Program
Six-week cross-border residency program for visual and plastic artists between Basque Country and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France.
KOMETAK is an exchange residency programme dedicated to strengthening cross-border ties and fostering collaboration between artists and cultural operators in the Basque Country and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Organized by the Etxepare Basque Institute, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Huarte, and the Bordeaux-based association Zébra3, the program aims to carry out cross-disciplinary research residencies targeted at visual and plastic artists in the region.
The program offers two parallel residency opportunities: An artist residing in Nouvelle-Aquitaine will undertake a research-based artistic residency at the Huarte Contemporary Art Centre in the Basque Country, while an artist residing in the Basque Country or Navarra will participate in a residency at Zébra3 in Bordeaux. Each residency lasts six weeks and is scheduled to take place between March and May 2026.
This initiative is part of the Etxepare Basque Institute's 'Ça colle au basque' program, which aims to promote the Basque language and culture in the French-speaking world. The KOMETAK project is co-funded by the EGTC Nouvelle-Aquitaine Euskadi Navarre Euroregion, ensuring robust support for participating artists.
The program welcomes visual and plastic artists interested in research-based artistic practice and cross-border cultural exchange. This is an excellent opportunity for artists to develop their work in a new environment, collaborate with peers from different regions, and gain international exposure.
