Kranj Foto Fest 2026 Open Call for Exhibitions
International photography festival in Slovenia offering fully funded exhibitions, €1,000 prize, travel support, and accommodation for selected artists.
Kranj Foto Fest 2026 is an international open call for contemporary photography projects, offering fully funded exhibitions in Slovenia during August 2026. The festival transforms the medieval town of Kranj into a large-scale open-air photography exhibition, presenting work in galleries, museums, forests, riverbanks, castle gardens, and underground medieval tunnels.
The open call selects one main award winner and up to twelve additional photography projects for exhibition. The main award winner receives a solo exhibition, €1,000 cash prize, travel support up to €400, and three nights of accommodation during the opening week (August 27-30, 2026). Additional selected projects participate in group exhibitions with potential upgrades to solo exhibitions in prominent venues, with full production, installation support, and curatorial collaboration provided.
Eligible photographers include all nationalities and career stages with no thematic restrictions. Each applicant may submit up to two photography projects, with each project containing 10-20 images. Projects can be previously produced or new work, with no genre or style restrictions, though strong conceptual coherence is encouraged.
The selection process involves review by a professional jury evaluating conceptual clarity, originality, artistic and technical quality, relevance to contemporary photography discourse, and suitability for site-specific exhibition. Selected artists receive extensive professional support including full production cost coverage, curatorial guidance, accommodation, festival promotion, and opportunities for future exhibitions internationally.
This artist-centered festival emphasizes accessibility by covering all production costs and offering international exposure in a high-profile European venue with unique exhibition spaces. Selected works benefit from long-term circulation enhancing artists' international visibility beyond festival dates.
