Kress Gap Mural Proposals - Texarkana Public Art Call
Texarkana seeks artists for new downtown mural themed 'Regional Legends and Folklore' with interactive elements for public engagement.
The Texarkana Arts & Historic District is calling for local and regional artists to submit proposals for a new public mural at Kress Gap in downtown Texarkana. The selected theme 'Regional Legends and Folklore' was chosen by more than 350 community residents, reflecting strong public support for celebrating the unique stories and myths of the region. The wall has been prepared with aging artwork removed and structural reinforcement completed to accommodate the new installation. Artists are encouraged to create original designs that capture local legends while incorporating interactive elements for visitor engagement. Proposals must be suitable for outdoor display and complement the historic downtown setting. This opportunity offers artists the chance to create a significant public artwork that will add color, creativity, and community connection to the heart of Texarkana, showcasing the legends that continue to inspire the region's artistic spirit.
Submission Guidelines
Submit original designs as single PDF via email. Must include: contact information for lead artist/team, concept rendering with short narrative, budget and installation timeline, artist résumé or portfolio. Designs must be durable for outdoor display, fit historic downtown setting, capture local legends, and include interactive element for visitors.

2. Step 2: Prepare single PDF submission including concept rendering, narrative, budget, timeline, and portfolio
