Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now

Cleveland Museum of Art seeks artists for juried exhibition celebrating 110 years. Open to Northeast Ohio artists in all media.

The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) is celebrating its 110th anniversary throughout 2026 and inviting artists to participate in "Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now," a juried group exhibition that honors the region's vibrant creative community. This exhibition celebrates the museum's historic legacy as a center for artistic innovation and draws inspiration from the museum's renowned May Show, an annual exhibition that championed regional artists from 1919 to 1993. The Lake Effect exhibition will showcase selected artworks at the Cleveland Museum of Art's Transformer Station in Ohio City's Hingetown neighborhood from July 9 through November 22, 2026. The exhibition is open to artists who live and/or work in Northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. All media are welcome, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, textile, ceramics, and mixed media. Both individual and collaborative proposals are accepted. Submitted works must have been completed within the last five years. A curatorial jury composed of Cleveland Museum of Art curators and museum professionals will review submissions based on artistic excellence and feasibility of installation. Additionally, three micro-grants of $1,000 each will be awarded to selected artists. The submission deadline is Friday, April 24, 2026, with selection notifications sent on Friday, May 1, 2026.
