Liberty Exhibition - Call for Artists at HCCC
Herkimer County Community College's Cogar Gallery seeks artists for 'Liberty' exhibition commemorating the US 250th anniversary.
Herkimer County Community College's Cogar Gallery is inviting artists to submit work for a special exhibition titled 'Liberty,' celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States (1776-2026). This exhibition will explore the evolving meaning of freedom and liberty in today's world.
Artists are encouraged to create and submit works that question, celebrate, challenge, or reimagine the concept of liberty through their own creative perspectives. The exhibition will run from Monday through Friday, April 13-27, 2026, at the Cogar Gallery located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center at HCCC, 100 Reservoir Road, Herkimer, New York.
Eligibility and Requirements:
- Artists must be 18 years of age or older
- Only one artwork per artist
- Artwork must have been created within the past five years
- No entry fee required
- All media welcome except AI-generated images
Specific Technical Requirements:
- 2D artwork must be ready to hang
- 3D artwork must not exceed 72 inches in any direction
- Video works must include their own display interface
The Cogar Gallery reserves the right to refuse artwork due to physical or content concerns. Cash prizes will be awarded: $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place. Artists may offer their work for sale during the exhibition, with the gallery retaining a 20% commission on all sales.
