San Antonio's Luminaria seeks innovative artists for November 2026 festival. Submit light-based installations and performances by March 6.

Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival in San Antonio is seeking artists for its annual November event, which brings together innovative and experimental art in all genres. The festival features music, dance, visual art, performance, an art market, and educational activities that takes place over one illuminating evening.

Key Requirements:
All art submissions must include an element of light that can be installed, performed, and deinstalled on the same day. All artwork must be original and new. The organization particularly emphasizes large structural and light/illumination-focused installations, as Luminaria is known for creating immersive environments. Artists are encouraged to consider adding these elements to their projects as they will be important considerations in the selection process.

Eligibility:
While the majority of participating artists are from Bexar County, regional, national, and international artists are invited to apply. There is no application fee, though applicants are asked to consider a $10 donation to offset costs.

Compensation:
Selected artists will receive a $750 honorarium, with an average honorarium of $1,500 for artist groups.

Event Details:
The 2026 Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival is tentatively scheduled for November 14, with a downtown San Antonio location to be determined. The 2025 festival featured performances by groups like Urban 15 drum and dance troupe and Forza Dance from New York City, along with visual artists, musicians, poets, and film screenings.

Two free videoconference information sessions will be offered on Tuesday, February 17, and Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m. CST to answer questions about submissions and eligibility.
