Many Stories, One Place - Westmoreland County
Westmoreland Historical Society invites artists to create original artwork celebrating the region's rich history and diverse communities.
The Westmoreland Historical Society is launching 'Many Stories, One Place,' a countywide call for artists as part of the America 250 celebration. This opportunity invites artists to create original artwork inspired by Westmoreland County's rich and layered history, from Indigenous peoples who first stewarded the land, to the county's role during the American Revolution, and through to the everyday lives, labor, traditions, and communities that followed.
The call encourages artists to explore both historical and contemporary perspectives, highlighting the diverse experiences that make up the region's shared story. Both emerging and established artists are welcome to apply with no submission fee required.
Accepted works will be featured as part of the America 250 programming, offering artists an opportunity to share their work with the community while contributing to a meaningful commemoration of Westmoreland County's heritage. Selected artworks will help tell the multifaceted stories that define the region's past and present.
Awards include a First Place cash prize of $400 and a $250 cash prize for Best of Show. Artists and community members are encouraged to follow updates and spread word to ensure broad participation from across the county and beyond.
This is an excellent opportunity for artists working in any medium to engage with local history, connect with their community, and potentially gain recognition and financial support for their work.
