March Call for Art - Bits Poetry Inspired
Iron Horse Arts District invites visual artists to create work inspired by Andrea Skiles' poetry collection 'Bits' for March exhibition.
The Iron Horse Arts District is launching an exciting March Call for Artwork inspired by 'Bits,' a new poetry collection by featured artist Andrea Skiles. This unique opportunity combines poetry and visual art, inviting artists to create work that interprets, responds to, or is inspired by Skiles' themes exploring quiet, fragmented moments of everyday life—from the moon and messes to laundry, painting, making, insomnia, and the beauty in ordinary experiences.
Visual artists of all mediums are encouraged to participate, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, fiber arts, and more. Submissions should reflect the emotional tone, imagery, or ideas found in 'Bits' rather than serve as literal illustrations of the poems.
The March Pop-Up Art Gallery will be free and open to the public during library hours at the Holdrege Area Public Library. Selected artists will be featured alongside Andrea Skiles, who will present a live poetry reading and literary programming. The March 12 reception and poetry reading will take place from 5-7 p.m., providing an opportunity to meet Andrea and the selected visual artists, enjoy light refreshments, and support local creativity.
This exhibition creates a dialogue between poetry and visual art, offering an exciting platform for artists to explore how everyday life inspires creativity. The Iron Horse Arts District is thrilled to facilitate this interdisciplinary artistic exchange and showcase the community's visual artists' interpretations of Skiles' work.
