Mariposa Creek Parkway Artist-in-Residency
Groundbreaking pilot program inviting artists to engage with cultural, ecological and wildfire resilience challenges in Mariposa County.
The Mariposa County Arts Council, in partnership with the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation, Sierra Foothill Conservancy and Mariposa County Planning Department, has announced the launch of the Mariposa Creek Parkway Artist-in-Residency (AiR) Program. This groundbreaking pilot initiative invites artists to engage with the unique cultural, ecological and wildfire resilience challenges of the Mariposa Creek Parkway, a vital community space along the western edge of Mariposa. The residency program represents a collaborative effort to support artistic practice while addressing community needs and environmental stewardship. Artists selected for this program will have the opportunity to work within a meaningful context that combines creative expression with community engagement and ecological awareness. The program seeks to foster dialogue between artistic practice and the broader challenges facing the Mariposa community, including wildfire resilience and cultural preservation. This is an excellent opportunity for artists interested in community-engaged work, environmental art, or projects that intersect with cultural heritage and ecological sustainability. The partnership structure demonstrates a commitment to inclusive, multi-stakeholder collaboration in supporting the arts.
