Meet the Moment Social Change Grants 2026

NALAC offers $5,000 grants to 20 Latinx/e artists addressing social issues through their work. Apply by March 23, 2026.

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) has announced an open call for its 2026 Individuals and Ensembles Meet the Moment Grant program. This initiative provides $5,000 grants to 20 individual Latinx/e artists or artist ensembles who address pertinent social issues through their creative work.

The grant is not project-specific and welcomes applicants with proposed artistic or cultural projects, initiatives, or opportunities that creatively address public concerns and influence social change. Examples of eligible projects include training fees for Participatory Action Research, political cartoon workshops, and rapid-response theater productions.

Funded expenses may include artist fees, research and development, travel, production costs, documentation, and residencies. Projects must be initiated and completed between September 2026 and September 2027.

Applications are reviewed according to three main criteria: dedication to artistic/cultural practice and social change, creative and social impact, and funding impact (demonstrated ability to complete the project within the one-year timeframe).

Eligibility requirements include U.S. or Puerto Rico residency, age 18 or above, and current NALAC membership. The organization provides a recorded informational webinar and hosts office hours with technical support and Spanish-language interpretation for potential applicants.
