Metro Art Call: East San Fernando Valley Station Designs
LA Metro seeks artists for 2D artwork designs at 12 transit stations. Awards range $110K-$120K. Deadline Sept 22.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has issued a call for artists to design 2D artwork for the East San Fernando Valley (ESFV) Project and G Line Improvements Project. Twelve contract awards ranging from $110,000 to $120,000 are available through a two-step selection process. The ESFV Project includes 11 stations and the G Line has one station at Van Nuys. Eligible artists must be based in LA County with a home or studio address and legally authorized to work in the US. Metro employees and artists with recent Metro contracts are ineligible. The selection process includes two rounds: first round evaluation by community-based art panel focusing on artistic merit (60%) and experience (40%). Finalists will develop artwork proposals and present them in-person in January/February 2026. Second round criteria includes artistic merit (50%), site appropriateness (30%), and community engagement method (20%). Finalists receive $2,000 for proposal development. All commissioned artworks are site-specific, original designs that become community landmarks visible to both Metro riders and passersby on open-air, street-level platforms.
